Rookie is the introductory level to competitive baseball with some modified rules to accommodate the players' ages. For the first time, your child's games look and feel like "real" baseball. Coaches focus on developing a more comprehensive understanding of the game and building sound fundamental mechanics. This is also the first time many players experience being called out, losing a game or not getting to play "their" position. These can be difficult experiences and parents are encouraged to treat them as teachable moments. In an effort to promote healthy competitive play, establishing equity between teams is a priority at the Rookie level. Subsequently, the honoring of requests to have players on the same team cannot be guaranteed.
There is a one year overlap in ages between the Clinic and Rookie Divisions. Players who have played one year in Clinic and are ready to handle a more competitive environment are encouraged to register for Rookie instead of another year of Clinic.
