General Information

Rookie is the introductory level to competitive baseball with some modified rules to accommodate the players' ages. For the first time, your child's games will look and feel like "real" baseball. Coaches will focus on developing a more comprehensive understanding of the game and building sound fundamental mechanics. This is also the first time many players experience being called out, losing a game or not getting to play "their" position. These can be difficult experiences and parents are encouraged to treat them as teachable moments. In an effort to promote healthy competitive play, establishing equity between teams is a priority at the Rookie level. Subsequently, the honoring of requests to have players on the same team cannot be guaranteed.

There is a one year overlap in ages between the Clinic and Rookie Divisions. Players who have played one year in Clinic and are ready to handle a more competitive environment are encouraged to register for Rookie instead of another year of Clinic.

  • Recommended for players who are 7 or 8 years old as of May 1, 2015.
  • Games are played on Monday and Thursday evenings at 6pm. Most practices are held on Saturday.
  • 2015 Opening Day is Saturday, April 25th.
  • During the First half of the season, all pitching is full distance, overhand coach pitch. In the second half of the season (beginning Monday, May 18,2015) the first three innings of each game is player pitch (with the last two innings still being coach pitch).
  • Playoffs begin Wednesday, June 10th and end with the Championship Game on Friday, June 19th.
