Stick

This is the most costly piece of equipment.  Top of the line sticks can cost $200-$300.

But your players first stick does not need to cost that much at all.  It is ok to borrow one, or buy a new one. Some beginner sticks cost in the $50-$70 range.

The shaft of the stick can be cut down for smaller players. However you may find yourself buying a longer stick next season, and a shaft on its own often costs the same as a whole stick.  Check with older players to see if they have a short shaft you can borrow for a year.

An easy way to improve a beginner stick is to get a custom pocket put in. Most lacrosse stores can do this in a few days. It is an easy way to add value to stick, and they out perform a $200 new stick.
