Tryout Policies and Information
Registration: Registration for Travel Tryouts can be found here. All players trying out for Towson United's Travel program must complete the online registration. Walk-ups are permitted but strongly discouraged. Advanced registration is highly recommended so coaches and evaluators may know each player's name, number, and other information during tryouts, and so parents may receive communications containing up-to-date information relating to travel tryouts and team selection.
Divisions/Age-Groups: Towson United adheres to the US Soccer Federation’s birth year age-group registration, not academic year. As such, our travel teams in the 2024-2025 season encompasses players with birth years ranging from 2009 to 2017.
Fee: No fee to tryout.
Schedule: The 2024 – 2025 tryout schedule is subject to change due to weather and other conflicts. Prospective and returning players must attend at least one tryout to be considered for a team, but the more sessions a player attends the better. It is strongly encouraged for players to attend two tryouts within age groups with three tryout opportunities.
What to Bring/Wear: All players should bring sufficient water for the tryout, cleats/turf shoes, and shin guards. All players must wear a WHITE shirt. Current or returning players SHOULD NOT wear their uniform.
Check-In: Please allow adequate time for check-in ahead of your tryout. Check-in will be available 30 minutes prior to a players scheduled tryout session. Parents/guardians may accompany players to the check-in process. After checking-in, players will receive two stickers each with a random number to be placed on the front and back of their shirt. Parents/guardians must remain in the stands away from all players and must refrain from any communication with any player unless there is an emergency.
Player Evaluations: Coaches from each age-group will determine the format of the tryout. Prospective players will be evaluated on their performance at tryouts as well as other additional information known to the evaluators/coaches. Returning players will be evaluated on their performance at tryouts as well as coach evaluations from the previous season.
Selection: Parent/guardians of players that are selected for a Towson United Travel team will receive an email invitation to join the team. At this time deposit will be due to hold your daughter’s spot on the team. Once teams are formed and finalized, all families will receive an email informing that team selection is complete and that if they did not receive an invitation, their player was not selected.
"Playing Up": It is the policy of Towson United not to permit players to "play up" on teams in older divisions. Exceptions may be made for a player demonstrating elite skill, attitude, effort, soccer intelligence, and maturity, and only if that player is able to make the older division's top or "A" team.
2024 – 2025 Girls Travel Soccer Tryouts
Towson United’s Girls Travel soccer tryouts for the 2024-2025 season will take place at Tiger Field at Towson University over May 13, 14, and 15, 2024. Thursday, May 16 is a rain date. The first session will begin at 5:45 and end at 7:00PM. The second session will begin at 7:15 and end at 8:30PM. Please plan to arrive early for check-in each night.
Parking: The closest parking lot to Tiger Field is Lot 6 on Auburn Drive. Please note that parking meters will be in affect during tryouts time. Parking can be paid for via the Park Mobile app (Zone #8003 Towson University).
